Life Esidimeni: Twitter reacts to apology by suspended head of Gauteng health

Johannesburg - Suspended head of Gauteng health Barney Selebano has apologised to the families and relatives of patients who lost their lives after forcibly being removed from Life Esidimeni homes last year.

"I want to come to you and say, if I could ask God to reverse this process, I would really ask God to reverse this process. You didn't deserve this type of thing. And I'm so sorry about that," Selebano said while testifying at the arbitration hearing in Parktown, Johannesburg.

"I don't know how much I can ask for forgiveness."

Relatives and family members present at the hearing could not fight the tears during Selebano's apology. A woman had been carried out after breaking down shortly after Selebano asked for forgiveness.
