Botlokwa - A Limpopo nurse was fined R20 000 or four years imprisonment after she was convicted of stealing ARVs at a local hospital, the Hawks in Limpopo said.
Mokgadi Monica Ramusi, 45, was found guilty by the Morebeng Regional Court of contravening the Medicine and Related Substances Act 101 of 1965 on Friday.
Hawks provincial spokesperson Matimba Maluleke said if Ramusi failed to pay the fine, she would face four years imprisonment of which half was suspended for five years.
Ramusi, a professional nurse attached to the Botlokwa Health Centre, was arrested in June 2016 for the unlawful possession of 24 bottles containing ARVs that she was trying to sell.
The investigation revealed that she stole the ARVs from Botlokwa Clinic where she was stationed.
She was granted R1 000 bail during her trial.
