Pretorius and Zondo are back. Agrizzi however is not.

Zondo: We were supposed to resume at 2pm, we did not, because there was a security situation in the building  - connected with the hearing that needed to be looked into.

It is necessary that those who come here are safe, and we need to give the necessary officials space to do their work.

Proceedings adjourned for the day. To resume tomorrow, Friday, January 18.

17 Jan 2019

We are told inquiry chairperson DCJ Zondo will be here in the next 10 - 15min.

AA: People who knew too much, would get disposed of.

Blame would be put on those who left. Agrizzi said he started to receive all the blame.

When asked what motivated the recording of video footage, Agrizzi says Van Tonder captured the footage on behalf of him, as proof that Watson was behind it.

17 Jan 2019

PP: There would be a stage where Bosasa would bid for the award of a particular tender?

AA: That is correct

PP: There would be occassions where Bosasa was involved prior to tender conditions, writing up conditions once contract ran its course. Client had discretion to extend tender?

AA: That is correct

PP: On the occasion when the contract exprired, a tender process would have to be gone through before contract ended?

AA: Correct

Agrizzi says once Bosasa was awarded with contracts someone would have to be "looked after".

17 Jan 2019

AA: That's why we had to use that system. Once you start paying people bribes on a monthly basis, you control them 100%.

17 Jan 2019

Agrizzi: It is a trap…bribery is a trap. You raise your standards of living to that bar and as soon as you start complaining it is taken away.

Reference of monopoly money explained:

AA: Cash was nothing in the company, it was just money. It was a phrase frequently used by Watson.

RZ: What was the significance of that reference?

AA: He says it's just money so we can get monopoly. Cash was nothing at the company, something that was readily available.
