Her sister Kholo is singing a song dedicated to her sister. She's fighting back tears, but she wants to make sure she finishes it.
Her older brother Esona says she used to reprimand him for calling her 'Uyi' in front of her friends because she preferred Nene.
Her untimely passing has revealed the evil that exists in this world, evil that she despised. I can't remember the last time we went out as a family and not criticise the injustices that existed in this world against women, says Esona.
He says through this period, he has asked himself many times, where God was when his sister had gone missing and was ultimately found dead. He says he still struggles to this day.

Cele emphasises that the people who work in the SA Police Service are highly educated and specialised in their profession. Adds that he did not want to declare Uyinene dead until they had confirmed for sure, despite the likelihood looking less and less at the time.
"In our anger, which is justified we must not forget that there are good men."

"All good people, incl good men, must come together on this thing and isolate the murderers, rapists and thieves," he says.

Cele says he is also a parent of a UCT student. Calls his daughter brave and driven. "But she said something to me last week, she said 'Dad I'm scared, can you facilitate for me to get a firearm, pepperspray or an oukapi.'" He says that scared him as well.

The Uyinene Scholarship for Women in the Humanities will be for women wanting to study at UCT. They want her name to continue shining a bright light of good. "No child without a legacy or purpose, Uynine lived a short life but it was beautiful & powerful."

"Nene was dear to our students, to our staff, to everyone who interacted with her. Nene has been robbed. It's difficult to lose a child this way. For me, I have lost a daughter," says UCT Vice Chancellor Phakeng. She says the university has since launched an I Am programme as a result.
