Man dies after car catches fire

Cape Town – A man has died in a fatal crash on the R102 outside Kuilsriver, when his car ploughed through the median into oncoming traffic.

Western Cape Traffic spokesperson, Kenny Africa said the accident had occurred at around 11:15 on Saturday morning. 

He said the vehicle, a Ford Telstar, had been travelling along the R102, in the direction of Kuilsriver before Buttskop Drive, when the driver appeared to lose control and went over the median into oncoming traffic. 

Africa said the motor vehicle had then caught alight while the man, who was the only occupant, was still inside.
