Johannesburg – A 43-year-old man who allegedly threw acid onto his wife before setting her alight is set to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Thursday morning, police said.
Johannesburg West police spokesperson Captain Walter Spencer said the man was arrested in his home in Florida, Roodepoort, shortly after the incident on Christmas evening.
He faces charges of assault, but more charges may be added in court.
Spencer said the woman was being treated for severe burn wounds at a local hospital.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown.
