PICS: Citi Golf 'squashed' between two trucks in N3 pile-up

One person has been airlifted to hospital after a pile-up on the N3 Durban-bound involving three trucks and two cars on Wednesday afternoon.

"[The accident] occurred in the backlog of a truck that was on fire after the Hammarsdale interchange," Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said.

According to Jamieson one person in a Citi Golf was "squashed between two trucks" and sustained serious injuries.

He has since been airlifted, while three others were injured and treated at the scene before being transported to hospital.

The N3 was closed to traffic before the two right lanes were reopened.
