A 19-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 32-year-old man to death in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police have said.
The teen was arrested at Zazulwana Extension village in the early hours of Saturday morning, police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said.
"The 32 year-old man bled profusely and was rushed to Butterworth hospital where he died on arrival," Manatha said.
Manatha said the circumstances that resulted in the stabbing of the man were not known at this stage, but it is understood that the suspect had been armed with a knife.
He added that the identity of the deceased was still being withheld until his close relatives were officially informed of his death.
A case of murder was opened and the teen will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Meanwhile, police were also investigating the death of a 86-year-old man in a house fire in Centane, also in Butterwoth, Manatha said.
