Thursday's weather: High risk of fires in parts of the Northern Cape

Extremely high veld fire conditions are expected in the !Kheis Local Municipality of the Northern Cape, according to the South African Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to be warm, while the south will be cool.

It will be fine and warm in Gauteng. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.

It will be fine and warm in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and the North West.

The Free State is expected to be partly cloudy in the western parts at first. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm, but cool along the Lesotho border.

Morning and evening fog is expected along the coast of the Northern Cape, where it will be cool. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm but cool in the extreme south. It will be hot in the northwest. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh.

It will be cloudy along the south coast and adjacent interior of the Western Cape. It will become partly cloudy to fine and cool. Otherwise it will be fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be light. The expected UVB sunburn index will be moderate.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be partly cloudy along the coast. Otherwise, it will be fine and cool. Light rain is expected south of the escarpment. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate.

It will be fine in the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy to cloudy and warm but cool in places over the south. The wind along the coast will be moderate. The expected UVB sunburn index will be moderate.
