Tomorrow's weather: High temperatures with fire danger conditions and gale-force winds

Warm to very hot conditions are expected in the interior of the country on Friday, fire danger conditions are expected in the north, and strong winds have been predicted for the Western Cape.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, in places over the central and eastern parts of the Western Cape, the northern interior of the Eastern Cape and the western and central parts of both the North West and Free State.

A watch has been issued for gale-force north-westerly winds of 65-74km/h, which are expected between Cape Point and Cape Agulhas from late on Thursday morning until Friday evening.

Strong interior north-westerly winds of 45-56km/h are expected in places over the Breede Valley and Central Karoo of the Western Cape and southern parts of the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape.

Gauteng is expected to be fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. The UVB sunburn index is expected to be very high.

It is expected to be partly cloudy and warm at first in Mpumalanga, with isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms. It will be hot to very hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo will be partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

It will be fine and hot to very hot in the North West. It will become partly cloudy in the extreme east in the afternoon.

The Free State will be fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the extreme northeast in the afternoon.

The Northern Cape will be cool along the coast. It will be fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy from the extreme southwest in the evening, where it will be windy from the afternoon. It will be very hot in the northeast.

The Western Cape is expected to be cloudy in the west in the morning, where it will become partly cloudy. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm. It will be hot to very hot and windy over the eastern interior. It will become cloudy to partly cloudy from the southwest from the evening with light isolated to scattered showers and rain.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-westerly, reaching gale force between Cape Point and Cape Agulhas, but moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly along the south coast.

The expected UVB sunburn index is set to be very high.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be very hot in places. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm to hot, but cloudy with very light isolated showers and rain south of the escarpment in the morning, where it will become partly cloudy in the afternoon.

Morning fog is expected over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm but hot in the north. Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly, becoming north-easterly in the evening.
