Tuesday's weather: Heavy rain across parts of the central interior of SA

Severe rain is expected across parts of four provinces in South Africa's central interior on Tuesday.

Severe thunderstorms are expected in the western Free State, the extreme north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the south-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the north-eastern interior of the Eastern Cape.

The temperature along the coast is expected to be cool to warm, according to the South African Weather Service.

Gauteng is expected to be cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

It will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers across Mpumalanga but scattered in the south.

Limpopo will be partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the western and central parts.

The North West is expected to be partly cloudy and warm. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected but will be isolated in the extreme northwest.

It will be cool in the east of the Free State. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the extreme west.

Fog is expected along the coast of the Northern Cape in the morning. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot, but very hot in the extreme northeast. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the extreme east, but will be scattered in the extreme northeast. 

The Western Cape is expected to be partly cloudy and cool to warm, with rain along the south coast until the afternoon. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the northeast from the afternoon.

The Eastern Cape will be cloudy and warm, but cool along the coast. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, but scattered in the north.

It will be partly cloudy and warm, but hot in the northeast of KwaZulu-Natal. Scattered showers and thundershowers can be expected.
