Weather Update: Warm weather in most of SA, cool coastline

Temperatures are expected to be warm in most parts of the country with cool conditions along most of the coastline on Saturday. 

Warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the western Free State, the western parts of the North West and in parts the northern Eastern Cape.

Rain

Thunderstorms are expected over the southwestern and southern interiors of the Northern Cape, the northeastern interior of the Western Cape and the northwestern parts of the western half of the Eastern Cape, with some isolated showers.

Drizzle is expected over the western parts of the south coast and adjacent interior of the Western Cape and along the coast and adjacent interior of the eastern half of the Eastern Cape.

The rest of the country remains dry.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures are expected to be cold over the southern parts of the Northern Cape while the rest of the country is expected to experience moderate morning conditions.

The coldest place will be Sutherland in the Northern Cape, dropping to a below freezing -4°C.

Maximum temperatures are expected be warm for most parts of the country, with cool conditions along most parts of the coastline and hot temperatures in the Upington area.

The warmest places will be Skukuza in Mpumalanga and Upington in the Northern Cape, reaching a high of 32°C.

Pretoria is expected to reach a high of 28°C, Johannesburg a high of 26°C and Bloemfontein a high of 27°C.

Along the coast, Cape Town is expected to reach a high of 19°C, Port Elizabeth a high of 20°C and Durban a maximum of 24°C.
