Weather Update: Warm weather persists for northern parts of SA

Temperatures are expected to remain warm along the northern border and adjacent interior of the country on Friday.

Warning

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected for the western parts of the North West province.

Rainfall

Morning drizzle is expected on the escarpment of Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

Light rain is expected south of the escarpment of the eastern half of the Eastern Cape.

Isolated morning and evening showers are expected for KwaZulu-Natal.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures are expected to be cool to cold across most parts of the country, with very cold conditions over the central interior.

The coldest places will be Sutherland in the Northern Cape and Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, dropping to a below-freezing -3°C.

Temperatures are expected to be warm along the northern border and adjacent interior during the course of the day. 

The rest of the country remains cool, with cold conditions across the central parts of the Eastern Cape and around Ermelo in Mpumalanga.

Several places across the country are expected to reach a high of 27°C.

Pretoria is expected to reach a high of 26°C, while both Johannesburg and Bloemfontein are expected to reach a maximum of 25°C.

Along the coast, Cape Town is expected to reach a maximum of 22°C, Durban will reach a high of 20°C and Port Elizabeth is expected to reach 18°C.
