Wednesday's weather: Slight dip in temperature, cool along parts of the coastline

The country might see a slight dip in temperature, but it will remain hot over most of SA, while the coast will be a tad cooler on Wednesday.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and the northern parts of the Northern Cape, says the South African Weather Service.

Temperatures along the coast are expected to be cool to warm.

Gauteng will be fine in the morning. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm but hot in the north. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.

Morning fog is expected along the escarpment of Mpumalanga. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in places in the Lowveld with isolated showers and rain in the east.

Limpopo will experience morning fog over the southern escarpment. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and hot.

The North West is expected to be fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy in the east with isolated thundershowers.

It will be fine and warm to hot in the Free State, becoming partly cloudy in the far east with isolated thundershowers.

Morning fog patches are expected along the coast of the Northern Cape where it will be cool. Otherwise, it will be fine and hot but warm in the far south where it will be partly cloudy at first. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

The Western Cape is expected to be cool along the coast. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy to cloudy and warm with light rain and drizzle patches along the southern coastal areas, mainly in the morning. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-westerly, freshening in the west during the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index will be very high.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be fine and warm in the extreme north, but cloudy and cool with light rain in places in the south and east. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly, becoming strong in places in the north.

It will be fine and warm in KwaZulu-Natal, but hot in the north. It will become partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly, becoming fresh south-westerly in the south in the morning, spreading northwards. The expected UVB sunburn index will be low.
