Your weather update: Sunny skies across the Republic expected on Saturday

A sunny day is in store across the Republic on Saturday, the South African Weather Service says.

Warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape and the Cederberg Municipality of the Western Cape.

Watches 

Severe thunderstorms are expected over the south-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the central and eastern interior of the Eastern Cape.

Special Weather Advisories

- Extremely hot conditions are expected over the West Coast District of the Western Cape and the Kamiesberg Municipality of the Northern Cape.

- Strong north-westerly (55 to 65km/h) winds are expected over the Central and Little Karoo, the Breede Valley of the Western Cape and the southern high ground of the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape on Sunday.

Gauteng will be partly cloudy at first and again from the afternoon, otherwise fine and warm to hot.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

In Mpumalanga, it will be cloudy along the escarpment in the morning with fog patches, otherwise fine and warm but hot to very hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo will be cloudy in the east in the morning with fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot in the Lowveld.

It will be fine and warm to hot in North West, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the north-east.

The Free State will be fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the extreme north-east. It will be scattered in the south and west.

There will be morning fog along the coast in the Northern Cape where it will be cool, otherwise partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north and east.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, becoming northerly to north-westerly in the afternoon.

The Western Cape will be cloudy along the south coast and adjacent interior at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot to extremely hot in the west coast region. Isolated thundershowers are expected over the central and eastern interior from the afternoon. It will be fine in the south-west. 

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly, becoming light to moderate easterly to north-easterly along the south coast in the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be fine and warm but hot over the interior, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers over the interior, spreading to the coast late afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly.

The eastern half of the Eastern Cape will be fine and warm but hot over the interior, becoming partly cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers over the interior, spreading to the coast late afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal will be fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-west but scattered in the extreme south-west.

The wind along the coast will be moderate north-westerly north of Cape St Lucia at first, otherwise moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
