Cape Town – Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, says the royal would have gotten along well with Meghan and supported the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to step back as senior members of the royal family.
In the past month, the royal family's seen a royal shakeup. After the bombshell announcement and much deliberation, Queen Elizabeth released a statement revealing Harry and Meghan would no longer receive royal funds, have to step back from official public duties and lose their HRH titles.
If Harry's speech the day after revealed anything, it's that it wasn't the outcome he was hoping for – and he may not have gotten the support he thought he would.
The former butler, who served Princess Diana from 1987 until her death in 1997, said Diana would've supported her son and daughter in law's decision though. She also would've "embraced" Meghan.
The 61-year-old told OK! Magazine, "Harry absolutely sees his mother in Meghan. He was looking for a mature woman who had strong visions of the future, not someone who dressed in Dior and dripping in Chanel.
He added, "They'll be free. They've been given back their lives. Being royal isn't all it's cracked up to be... I have no doubt they discuss everything, and they'll have another baby soon."
