It's been a difficult start to the 2020 school calendar for Gauteng, with several pupils dying in various tragic accidents.
In January, Enock Mpianzi, 13, was swept away in the Crocodile River while attending a Grade 8 orientation camp at Nyati Bush and River Break Lodge, near Brits in the North West.
He was last seen when a makeshift raft he and other boys were on overturned in the river, just hours after arriving at the camp.
His death sent shockwaves across the country.
Shortly after the drowning, Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi commissioned a forensic report into Mpianzi's death.
The report, compiled by Harris Nupen Molebatsi Attorneys, was meant to be released on Thursday evening.
However, two hours before the scheduled release time, the department said it had consulted Mpianzi's family and found that it would be "insensitive to release the report without their blessings".
