A group of men was caught on camera stealing food from a delivery truck as it entered a receiving bay in Cape Town on Thursday, November 15.
The men gained access to the truck by tearing through the tarpaulin cover.
Video footage of the incident has been circulated on social media.
Christo van Wyk, director of Rusgenot Transport, told News24 his staff were entering the loading bay at Boxer Superstores in Mitchells Plain when the truck was looted.
"The truck was delivering food products," he said. He was unable to confirm the value of the goods looted.
"There is an overall lawlessness in this country. It happened in broad daylight. What can you do?" he said.
According to Van Wyk, no one was injured during the incident.
Cape Town police told News24 that Mitchell’s Plain police have no record of any criminal case opened relating to the incident.
