One person was shot dead and another injured in a gang-related shooting in Valhalla Park, Cape Town, on Thursday morning.

According to police, suspects fled the scene in a silver Mini Cooper that was later found abandoned and burned on Robert Sobukwe Road.

“The shooting incident led to the deployment of our forces in the area in pursuit of the suspects," said Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut.

“While on patrol in the area, members of the Anti-Gang unit spotted a suspicious male who was running towards his residence in Olienhout Road in Bishop Lavis.”

Police then proceeded to the man's home where they made a second arrest.

The two men, aged 20 and 37, were found to be in possession of unlicensed firearms.
