Liam Bradford,19, is an inmate at Boksburg prison's juvenile section. He is currently completing Grade 9 after his schooling came to an abrupt halt when he was sentenced to time in prison.
He says prison has given him the opportunity to turn his life around. As he works towards completing his secondary education, he hopes to eventually study to become a neurosurgeon and help disabled children.
"I have a sister that was born disabled," says Bradford.
He grew up hearing stories about how a neurosurgeon changed his older sister's life long before he was even born. This, says the 19-year-old, inspired him to do the same for children born with disabilities.
Bradford says the stories his family told him of the neurosurgeon who helped his sister touched him so deeply he decided that he too would like to give children a second chance.
Bradford has vowed to focus on school and keep away from bad company in order to achieve his dream.
"I don't see this as prison, I see it as a second chance," he says.
