The British owners of the Nieuwe Sion farm, David and Elaine Potter, recently astounded their 150 farmworkers when they handed over keys – and title deeds – to a R30m architect-designed village, complete with a crèche, aftercare and entertainment centre in the Western Cape.
The 22 state-of-the-art homes sit on four hectares of farmland and include modern finishes and features.
"For us as farmworkers, it's not possible to own a house so we are very thankful to the owner of the farm for this initiative," Hennie Lekay told News24.
