Four thieves made off with an undisclosed number of watches without even setting foot in the store they robbed.
A video of the incident at Farah Watches, a jewellery store in the Mall@Reds shopping centre in Centurion, has been circulating on social media.
The robbery took place on the evening of Tuesday, July 31.
The owner of the establishment, Azhar Mohamed, said that his security company alerted him when the store’s alarm was triggered.
"I saw pictures in our community group in what looked like four guys trying to get in. This was before I got to the store," said Mohamed.
In the video, a group of men use a hammer to smash open the glass display cabinet. A smoke alarm was triggered, but this did not deter them from grabbing the watches.
Mohamed closed his store at around 19:15, just a few minutes before the robbery.
According to Wierdabrug SAPS spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma, a case of business burglary was opened for investigation.
The value of the items taken is still unknown.
