In September 2018 News24 interviewed 10-year-old maths genius Sbahle Zwane.
His mom, Mbali Zwane, was unemployed at the time and could not afford to pay for a good education or stationery for Sbahle and his younger brother.
One month later, the Zwane family received news that Sbahle had been granted a scholarship at the prestigious Curro Academy in Protea Glen, Soweto.
Mbali says since the interview with News24, her phone has been ringing off the hook with people offering Sbahle scholarships and sponsorship.
Many of these offers did not materialise into assistance for Sbahle.
However, one afternoon, a representative from Curro Academy, Protea Glen, visited the Zwane family and offered Sbahle an all-inclusive scholarship and for his mother, a job at the school.
Sbahle will commence Grade 5 at Curro Academy next year. Preparations have been going well, says his mother, as he already has most of his school uniform sponsored by the school.
During another media interview, Sbahle shared his dream of becoming a pilot when he is older. This earned him, his mom and aunt a fully sponsored overnight trip to Durban.
