"Members of the Gupta family offered me the Minister of Finance position. I rejected the offer out of hand," says Jonas. In this video, published by SABC Digital News on 16 March 2016, Jonas says he is acting on his conscience.

The Deputy Minister of Finance insists his historical commitment to the people of South Africa and the African National Congress (ANC) has not changed. He adds the current economic crisis demands "responsible leadership" and all hands on deck.
