A "wildcat" strike by MyCiTi employees appeared to enter its second day on Tuesday as the bus service announced disruptions on several routes around Cape Town.
Around 200 protesting MyCiTi employees at the Cape Town Civic Centre had on Monday promised to continue with their strike if their demands for better pay and working conditions were not met.
MyCiTi bus driver Johannes Gordon said that workers had received letters from their labour brokers threatening disciplinary action should they fail to return to work.
Mayoral committee member for transport Brett Herron said that he could not confirm whether workers had received the letters.
Although News24 has seen the letters signed by labour broker Transpeninsula Investments operations manager Floris Hamman, information on the matter was not immediately available.
The strike is confirmed to continue on Wednesday.
