A thief with sticky fingers was able to steal two pairs of designer sunglasses from an optical store in Johannesburg last Friday.
In CCTV footage, a man can be seen browsing through a sunglasses display at Execuspecs at The Glen Shopping Mall, in Johannesburg.
He then cunningly hides the sunglasses under what seems to be a notebook while the store clerk is not watching.
"We opened up a case of theft with the SAPS on Friday," Helmuth Luttig, who's wife owns the store, told News24.
The 32-year-old Luttig said they had shared the video with the public as a way of raising awareness.
"We are just trying to do our bit to get him arrested," he said.
He added that the two pairs of glasses were worth between R5 000 and R6 000.
Sergeant Pello Mohokare of Moffatview police station said no arrests had been made, but that they were investigating the matter.
Mohokare urged members of the public to be vigilant during the festive season.
