Beijing - Local authorities in a southern Chinese province say they have arrested 13 people who not only illegally detained officials and police officers but also stormed a police station and a government building because of a dispute over a woman's death.
The violence reflects the deep distrust by members of the public in local government. It also shows their increasing hostility toward local authorities and tendency to take extreme acts.
The county government of Shuangfeng in the Hunan province said that relatives of Cao Hui, who died from pesticide poisoning, demanded to know if she had been murdered.
