Christchurch killer likens himself to Mandela, calls him a 'terrorist'

The notorious Christchurch mosque shooter who killed 50 people and wounded 34 others compared himself to South African icon and former president Nelson Mandela.

Brenton Tarrant's manifesto, a 74-page document titled "The Great Replacement", is filled with far-right conspiracy theories explaining how white Europeans are being replaced by non-white immigrants, and how he plans on fixing that.

The 28-year-old's solution? Intimidate and physically remove those who allegedly threaten these white spaces.

The Daily Mail reported that in the manifesto, Tarrant wrote that he would be released from jail after serving 27 years – just like Mandela, referring to the former statesman as a terrorist.

"I expect to be freed in 27 years from my incarceration, the same number of years as Mandela, for the same crime," he wrote.

He also said that he would win a Nobel Prize, Al Jazeera wrote.

He also said that he is a supporter of US President Donald Trump for him being a symbol of "renewed white identity", but not as a leader and policy maker, according to AP.

South Africans have joined people from all around the world to express their sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the community of Christchurch.
