A heartbroken mom is mourning the death of her daughter who was killed by an alligator.
On Monday 20 August Cassandra Cline (45) from South Carolina in the US was attacked by an alligator while walking her dog on a community golf course, Abc News reports.
Cassandra and her pooch were strolling near a lagoon when 2,4m alligator attacked the dog.
While trying to save her dog, Cassandra was also attacked and pulled underwater by the alligator.
A groundskeeper and a neighbour witnessed the attack. Her body was later recovered from the water while the dog was unharmed.
Cassandra’s devastated mom, Julia Meza, told People that she’s struggling to come to terms with her daughter’s tragic death.
“I can’t make any sense of what’s happened. None at all,” Julia said.
“She’d never go near an alligator, she’d never irritate an alligator.
“I just keep thinking about her being dragged away. I just can’t imagine it.”
The preschool teacher, who worked at the Endicott Central School District for 16 years, planned to retire next year, NBC News reports.
