A dying father has had his final wish fulfilled.

The father of three – who suffers from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a rare disease that causes the death of nerve cells that control voluntary muscles – got his wish of walking his three daughters down the aisle in a mock wedding on July 30, in Ridgefield, Washington reports People.

Akhil Jhaveri has been given little over a week to live after his long battle with ALS.

His family knew he wouldn’t have enough time to walk his beautiful daughters down the aisle and so a family friend came up with the ingenious idea of organising a mock wedding for the trio, reports Komo News.

One of his daughters, Corinne Jhaveri told Komo, "We don't really know [how long he has], but they're saying it's any day.”

With less than a week to organise the event, the wedding was held at Vintage Gardens in Ridgefield on Monday. The wedding dresses, venue, flowers and music all donated by members of the community who wanted to see Akhil’s dream come true, reports KVAL.

“We’ve had a lot of time to process the fact he’s going to pass away, and that it’s going to be hard,” Jordan Jhaver, another of his daughters, told the news outlet.

His daughter Ashley Jhaveri commented, “It’s been difficult, I remember him as this vibrant, hilarious human.”

Laura, Akhil’s wife of 20 years created a website documenting the family’s journey after her husband was diagnosed with ALS in 2011, 11 years after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
