A mother had to explain to her son’s school that her husband hadn’t drowned after the boy told his teacher about “dead loved ones” from his “past lives”.
Megan Betty (27), from Bridgewater in the UK, was surprised when four-year-old Charlie began talking about “his past lives” at the age of two, Metro reports.
“At school, his teacher got in touch to say he’d been talking about his father drowning. I had to explain that his dad was fine,” The Sun reports Megan as saying.
Charlie told her how he’d died when he was a baby after choking on something and that his mother was very “upset”. When asked what he meant, Charlie said this “mother” didn’t refer to Megan, whom he calls “Mommy”.
“He’s always talking about his past lives, all the time. He uses old-fashioned names and talks about when he died,” Megan said.
Experts say Charlie’s case is remarkable but add that this isn’t necessarily proof of the existence of past lives.
“He won’t say it if you ask him about it, he just talks about it when he wants to talk about it,” Megan added.
Julie Cockroft, a paranormal investigator with a diploma in parapsychology and mediumship, said she was amazed when she heard the stories about Charlie’s past lives, Metro reports.
Parapsychologist Dr Ciaran O’Keeffe said Charlie’s case is similar to other cases where people have alleged they had past lives. One of the best known cases is that of the Pollock twins – two girls who were supposedly reincarnations of their dead siblings.
O’Keeffe stressed that there might be other rational explanations for Charlie’s behaviour, and that these incidents shouldn’t be seen as evidence of the existence of past lives.
