“Come on, come on baby girl,” came the pleading voices.
Authorities have released the chilling 911 call made after American former World Cup alpine skier Bode Miller’s toddler drowned in a swimming pool in California.
Nineteen-month-old Emeline Miller was found unconscious floating in a neighbour’s pool during a party on Saturday 10 June, according to Express UK.
Emeline’s mom, Morgan Beck, was inside her neighbour’s house talking to people when she suddenly realised her daughter wasn’t with her.
“[Morgan] turned and was looking for her [daughter] but didn’t see her right next to her,” Orange County Fire Authority Captain, Steve Concialdi, told PEOPLE.
“[She] went straight to the backyard, where the pool is. The child was in the pool. The mom pulled out the little girl and they started CPR immediately.”
In audio released to PEOPLE, an unidentified woman made a panic-stricken 911 call for an ambulance.
“Is the baby breathing?” the operator asks the woman, who responds with, “No.”
“Come on keep going,” the woman tells a man in the background after she explains to the operator that he was performing CPR.
“Come on, girl. Come on baby. Come on baby. Get it out. Come on, honey,” the man is heard saying in the audio.
The toddler later died in hospital.
Bode has since taken to social media to express his grief.
“We’re beyond devastated,” he captioned a picture he posted of his daughter on Instagram.
“Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we’d experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten.”
He described his princess as “a little girl who loved life and lived it to its fullest daily”.
