Two sisters, aged 12 and 14, were reportedly arrested for shooting and stabbing their mom to death because she confiscated their cellphones.
Amariyona Hall (14) and her younger sister, who can’t be named due to her age, were arrested on 11 December after the body of their mother, Erica Hall, was found by relatives at their Mississippi, US, home, New York Post reports.
She’d been stabbed multiple times and shot once in the chest, local authorities said. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the 32-year-old woman but were unable to do so, the Enterprise Journal reports.
The girls have been charged with killing their mother, Pike County sheriff Kenny Cotton told local media.
“They’re charged with murder and we’re going to apply the law,” he said.
The girls were reportedly unhappy when their mom took away their phones as punishment. They allegedly also tried to run her down with a car, Mirror reports.
“With something like that, she should’ve made charges and had them arrested then,” Cotton said.
Hall has been charged as an adult and will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on 29 January. Her younger sister is reportedly being held at the Adams County Juvenile Detention Centre.
