Tens of thousands of Argentines have launched the first of a series of planned protests against President Mauricio Macri's austerity programme and the soaring cost of public services.

Meanwhile in Greece, police fired teargas at protesters marching through central Athens against an education ministry bill currently under public consultation that will change the way teachers are appointed.
