WATCH: The world's first live hologram lecture

"Can you see me?" asked the visiting lecturer, one of a panel brought in via 3D hologram from New York and Los Angeles to appear lifesize on stage with other speakers at Imperial College, London.

The topic of the evening was women in technology, and the hologram lecture - claimed to be a world first - was a trial to see how viable the process was. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions as if the visitors were in the room in person. This may now be rolled out to enable a greater variety of visiting academics to talk to students at the university.
