WATCH: Torrential rains threaten to burst dam in US city

Part of the city of Lynchburg in Virginia have been evacuated amid fears that the nearby College Lake Dam could fail, says BBC News.

Roads were flooded and police warned motorists not to take a chance on driving through the fast running water. Cars could be seen submerged to roof level.

More than 120 households were evacuated, with residents warned to stay away for at least 24 hours until the water has subsided.
