With the official unemployment rate down by only 0.2 percentage points to 32.7% in the last quarter of 2022, it brings a slight sigh of relief to know that over 4 200 job opportunities will come from the newly launched Munyaka development in Waterfall smart city in Gauteng.
Balwin Properties opened the gates to its “largest” Crystal Lagoon in Gauteng on Wednesday, following in the footsteps of its exclusive lifestyle estate, The Blyde Balwin Crystal Lagoon in Pretoria.
The three-hectare development in Midrand will boast 5 020 luxury one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments starting from R989 900 to be completed by 2028.

Founder and CEO of Balwin Properties Steve Brookes said Munyaka, which means crystal in Venda, is the crown jewel of their development portfolio.
“Notwithstanding the challenges we currently face as a country, I firmly believe in South Africa’s future and this R10-billion investment is a huge vote of confidence in our resilience as a nation,” he said.
Brookes added:
The residents who have occupied the first 1 000 apartments at the development will – in addition to enjoying the crystal-clear lagoon – have access to amenities, such as a gym, restaurants, meeting rooms, a swimming pool, laundromats, cinema, wellness spa and water activities, including paddle boarding and canoeing.
