South African 100m and 200m specialist, Shaun Maswanganyi, obliterated yet another record in the indoor sprint competition in the US at the weekend.
Running in the colours of the University of Houston at an indoor track and field meet in Texas on Saturday, Maswanganyi clocked 20.41 seconds to finish second in the 200m final at the Big 12 Conference Indoor Championship.

In a statement shared by his agency, Coral Communications, Maswanganyi said:
The 23-year-old bettered the record previously held by Ncincili Titi on the short track by 0.04 seconds.
He was competing for the University of South Carolina track and field team at the time.
Maswanganyi, who represented South Africa at the World Athletics Championships in Hungary last year and the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020, lives in Texas where he’ is studying economics at the University of Houston.
He is coached by nine-time Olympic gold medallist and American icon, Carl Lewis.
In June last year, Maswanganyi’s 9.91 second blitz during a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) meet in Austin shot him to South Africa’s second fastest runner over 100m, behind record holder Akani Simbine’s 9.84sec.
Up next, Maswanganyi is expected to line-up at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston from 8 to 9 March.
