It will cost R85 to attend a lovers' movie night at musician Arthur Mafokate’s swanky La Villa Rosa in Midrand this Saturday.

Mafokate’s daughter Kelello will host the Valentine's Day-themed event at the popular guest house, which is currently at the centre of a Special Investigating Unit (SIU) probe, following allegations it was purchased with funds meant for other projects to uplift the youth.

Guests at the event can also book a stay for the night, as it is business as usual at the guest house, which was seized by the SIU last month.

Mafokate’s third-born took to her Instagram to advertise the event on Monday:

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and what better way to spend it other than with your loved ones, partner, friends or family?

SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said there was nothing wrong with hosting the event at the lodge because the preservation order obtained by the SIU was not prohibiting the star from conducting business at the lodge.

“The preservation states that the property cannot be sold because we are still going to the next step where we want it to be forfeited to the next level. Then, once we do that, it will be taken away. For now, we are avoiding a situation where it can be sold,” he explained.

Kganyago added that the residential properties, which were also listed in the preservation order, were still occupied by the owners.

The SIU and the National Prosecuting Authority's asset forfeiture unit obtained a preservation order from the Gauteng division of the high court of South Africa on December 21 to freeze three luxury properties, a plot and a portion of a farm that were linked to the siphoning of lotteries grant funding.

Mafokate allegedly received over R9 million from the National Lotteries Commission through his nonprofit organisation, the SA Arts and Development Association, to do art projects to benefit young people from underprivileged communities. The 999 Music boss allegedly took money remaining from the project and purchased the guest house.

The SIU revealed that Mafokate's La Villa Rosa had been seized along with properties belonging to former lotteries commission employees, including former lawyer Lesley Ramulifho, former board member William Elias Huma and former board chairperson Alfred Nevhutanda and his wife, Rachel.

Mafokate has denied any wrongdoing, stating that the SIU must do their job in the investigation and the law must take its course.
