In a survey conducted last year by Turkey’s Yöneylem Social Research Centre, almost 70% of respondents reported that they were struggling to meet their families’ food requirements and more than 60% said they could not pay their utility bills.

These were among the starkest findings about the dire situation Turks find themselves in as the economic crisis hits hard.
