Communications and Digital Technology Minister Mondli Gungubele says his department will continue to push the National Treasury to help fund the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). 

The ailing public broadcaster is expected to suffer a R242 million loss in the 2024/25 financial year after posting a R590 million loss in the 2023/24 financial year.  

Speaking at a briefing on Thursday, Gungubele said the SABC should be allocated money from the fiscus despite Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana stating that no allocations had been made in this year's national budget.
