Jason Momoa, actor and native of Hawaii, has expressed his support for the people affected by the Maui wildfires, which is an island part of Hawaii. The actor took to his social media to share links that his fans can use to assist victims.

"We are devastated and heartbroken for our friends and 'ohana on Maui who been impacted by the recent wildfires," Momoa posted on Instagram, quoting another account, 'Aina Momona.

'Aina Momona is a non-profit organisation in Hawaii focused on environmental issues.

The actor has shared various links to resources to inform his fans and provide ways they can assist the victims of the wildfire.

Momoa was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was raised on the island. The actor has been open about his strong connection with his Hawaiian heritage.

The fire started on Tuesday and has been aggravated by dry conditions and strong winds, according to Reuters.

So far, the Maui wildfires have killed at least 53 people and this number is expected to increase. The wildfires have reportedly resulted in billions of dollars in damages, affecting up to 1000 buildings.

Tourists and locals have been evacuated from Maui, with the fire still spreading.

The wildfires also pose a threat to Hawaii's cultural heritage sites in Lahaina, capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
