Taylor Swift met with the family of the fan who died at one of her concerts in Brazil.

In a photo uploaded to social media, the family of the deceased fan, Ana Clara Benevides Machado, are seen standing with Taylor Swift off stage at a gig in São Paulo.

The family members are seen wearing t-shirts with Ana's face on them and a quote. The family were also spotted in the VIP area of one of Swift's concerts last week. Swift had personally invited them.

The 23-year-old fan fell ill at a Swift concert, part of the singer's Eras Tour, in Rio de Janeiro. She was rushed to a hospital and subsequently died of cardiac arrest.

The father of the fan, Weiny Machado, had also spoken out about his daughter's death.

"I lost my only daughter, a happy, intelligent girl," Weiny told Brazilian news outlet Folha de S Paulo.

"She was about to graduate in psychology next April, saving money. I have no words to express my pain. She left home to fulfil a dream and came back dead."

Weiny added that he was seeking answers about Ana's death.

"I want it to be determined whether they were, in fact, prohibited from bringing water, whether there was negligence in providing assistance," he said.

He continued: "I know that the singer was handing out water to her fans, which is absurd for an event of this size. Nothing will bring my daughter back, but I hope that, if negligence is confirmed, someone will be punished so that this doesn't happen to anyone else."

Swift had paid tribute to Ana following her death.

"It's with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight," Swift said in a post on Instagram.

"I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this. There's very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.

"I'm not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it," she continued.

She added:

I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.

Due to high temperatures in Brazil and the fan's death, Swift had postponed her show.

"The decision has been made to postpone tonight's show due to extreme temperatures in Rio," Swift wrote on Instagram at the time.

"The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers and crew has to and always will come first," she added.
