  • Developers of luxury estates and buildings are including amenities catering to residents' lifestyles.
  • Property owners are opening the use of the amenities to people who don't live there.

In recent years, South African development has seen rapid growth in the lifestyle estate market of housing solutions that offer more than just accommodation.

More estates are calling themselves "lifestyle estates", and developers are including amenities catering to residents' lifestyles.

Previously, these amenities were only available to residents, but a trend is emerging that now allows non-residents to enjoy the conveniences built into luxury developments.

@Sandton Spa, Acsiopolis

Acsiopolis - pronounced ak-shop-oh-liss - is a multi-use precinct at 5 Benmore Road, best described as a small city in one high-rise building. The property is home to many amenities, all classified under their distinctive @ symbol.

The property has a 561-room luxury hotel called @Sandton-Hotel. The gym, clubhouse with a heated pool, kids' pay area, whisky and cigar lounge and restaurant may be exclusive to hotel guests, but guests can access the other amenities on the property.

For a more long-term arrangement, there are the @Sandton-Apartments with access to doctor's rooms, childcare, a workspace, a deli, a boutique Pilates and Yoga studio, and the @Sandton spa.

News24 popped into @Sandton Spa for a treatment, and what immediately stood out was its distinct offering of treatments that deviated from the standard treatments offered by most spas in the city.

The spa appears relatively quiet during the week, lending itself to the relaxed environment created by its ambient music and signature floral scent.

Treatment rooms are reasonably sized and impeccably maintained. A therapist named Tiny carefully took me through each step of the Joyaux Atlantique treatment I booked before she started the process.

I prefer to speak to my therapist, so Tiny and I talked about the spa, its treatments, the aesthetic goals I hope to achieve this year, and motherhood.

It was a lovely and relaxing experience, and it is worth returning to try out one of the many options on the spa menu.

The Luna Club, Ellipse Waterfall

To launch the final tower of their multi-building development in Midrand, Attacq and Tricolt hosted guests at The Luna Club located in the last tower at Ellipse Waterfall in May.

The Luna Club is an exclusive multi-concept lifestyle destination for the Ellipse Waterfall residents. The club offers premium wellness, fine dining, business and leisure services.

Established brands like Olives and Plates, Life Day Spa Waterfall and Trifit Wellness are just some of the brands you can expect to find at the lifestyle destination.

The restaurant at The Luna Club is already a firm favourite for socialites who are creating content at the picture-perfect backdrops of the restaurant. The Luna Club's outdoor area near the outdoor pool boasts uninterrupted sunset views each day.

Ellipse Waterfall is strategically positioned in Waterfall City, close to schools, shopping amenities, fine dining and a business district, offering unparalleled premium living, and it's yours to enjoy whether you live there or not.

The City Centre, Steyn City

Steyn City is a marvel to behold. It takes some of the best parts of most luxury developments and puts it all in one place on the property's expansive land.

The estate recently introduced its own multi-building development dubbed the City Centre.

The City Centre is a building that houses Steyn City's furnished luxury apartments with up to four bedrooms for rent or purchase. The building is also home to retail stores overlooking a 300m lagoon.

The lagoon launched in 2021, and activities like kayaking, stand-up paddle boards, pedaloes and water slides gives residents and their visitors the water park experience.

Below, we list the most impressive leisure and entertainment amenities you can enjoy even if you aren't a resident of Steyn City.

Nineteen restaurant is Steyn City's signature restaurant. You can find Nineteen in the estate's clubhouse, which offers sweeping views of the golf course and a view of Palazzo Steyn, depending on where you sit.

The restaurant is a modern bistro that offers sumptuous meals in an elegant setting.

The library selection of wines is not only an exciting part of the decor, but it also houses bottles from around the world to go with the contemporary dishes on the menu.

Café Del Sol

This al fresco Italian eatery has been around for some time; however, they recently found a new home in the upper piazza of the estate's City Centre.

"Our new address [is in] the Italian quarter of Steyn City. Inspired by an Italian village, we have found a new home. Finally we can bring you safe and stylish Alfresco (open-air) dining in an Italian piazza style environment."

You'll find authentic Napolitano pizza, homemade Italian pasta and gourmet grills on the menu.

The restaurant's wood-fired pizza oven is covered in mosaic tiles, and the set piece fits beautifully into the restaurant's muted and tranquil decor.

Café Del Sol also has an Italian Foodie Emporium on site for diners who wish to take a piece of the restaurant home with its bespoke collection of foods and other culinary delights.

The gallery, created in association with Knysna Fine Art and Everard Read, aims to create a platform for collectors and art enthusiasts to acquire and explore.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday between 9:00 and 18:00. It is closed on Mondays.
