NEWSPAPERS: All eyes on Oscar Pistorius appeal

According to court papers filed by the state, the five-year jail sentence imposed on Oscar Pistorius is "shockingly light and inappropriate”. Today's newspapers focused on the state's application to appeal Judge Thokozile Masipa's ruling.

Prosecutors Gerrie Nel and Andrea Johnson said in court papers: "Not enough emphasis was placed on the horrendous manner in which the deceased died, coupled with the gruesome injuries she sustained when the accused shot and killed her."
