I would like to respond to the article written by PB about Australia and the similarities/differences experienced.
Since it is a News24 article and is very much the opinion of one person, I deemed it necessary to respond.
I have been living and loving a peaceful almost five years in Australia, specifically in Perth. When we look back and check the reasons for leaving, they are all still valid. My children have finished their schooling and my son is attending a fantastic university. Both are looking forward to achieving their ambitions and goals without any political influences.
I have experienced the work situation to be very rewarding and have been recognised financially and otherwise for outperformance, unlike the view of PB in the letter.
We have a house of similar size to what we had in South Africa and paid way less than $1m, not even talking about $3m. Our houses do not have any security except for locked doors. A regular walk with the dog at night is not uncommon.
My advice is be prepared to work hard and take one step back financially, not five.
Although South Africa has been good for me and my family we did leave before being hijacked and raped. I support all the good things that happen in South Africa and wish everyone well but Australia is now my home and I thank God every day for the opportunity to have come here and to experience life as it is meant to be.
