Lwandle police seek museum’s stolen items, souvenirs from the apartheid system

Lwandle police detectives are appealing for public assistance to locate several items stolen from the museum.

The goods include pots, kitchen utensils and a radio, all souvenirs from the apartheid system.

According to police, a new portable power station was also taken. It is believed the theft occurred between Monday 18 and Monday 25 March, while the facility was closed and staff away.

“The last time staff came to work was on Monday (18 March) afternoon. They returned to work on Monday (25 March),” read a police statement.

It is believed the suspects gained entrance through the roof, in one of the hostel rooms preserved by the museum to showcase the life of people in the hostels before democracy.

Police have since opened a case of business burglary.
