The Stellenbosch police are again urging residents to stay vigilant and report crimes after a busy March.
Attempted murder, burglaries and theft of vehicles are just some of the reported crime last month.
An attempted murder was reported in the area of Luyolo and Bottelary Road. Police say crime usually occurs on a Saturday between 21:00 and 23:59.
Theft of vehicles seems to be an end-of-the-week crime, with reports of the crime being reported mostly on a Thursday and Friday, local police explain. One such incident was in Banghoek, Victoria and Noordwal Oos Street between 09:00 and 12:00.
Robbery with a weapon, specifically with a knife, also occurred recently. In the vicinity of Merriman, Ryneveldt and Kolenhof Road most of these incidents occurred on a Wednesday and Friday from 06:00 to 09:00 and 15:00 to 17:59 police warn.
Burglaries for property owners is always a concern, but last month it seem it was specifically burglaries at residential areas that occurred in Victoria Street and Devon Valley. It seems thieves’ method of looting is to take advantage of open doors of premises for their gain.
According to police these incidents take place from Wednesday to Saturday from 21:00 to 23:59.
“Stay vigilant and report suspicious activity,” police spokesperson Captain Nathalie Martin urges. “Be alert to your surrounding and report suspicious individuals loitering near vehicles or residential areas.”
