The start to the celebration of the Bloem Show legacy brand’s success as an economic catalyst in the Free State, is nearing. This year will be the 141st instalment of the diverse occasion-based marketing event held from 25 April to 4 May in Bloemfontein, the Free State capital.

The organisers continue to pursue their repositioning and growing of the Bloem Show as the largest enterprising event showcasing various brands in the central region of southern Africa.

The proceedings began with the dairy competition in which 321 producers showcased their proudly South African products in 17 classes, including those for butter, Gouda cheese, Cheddar cheese, speciality cheeses, yoghurt, and a wide variety of cow’s and goat’s milk products.

Elmarie Prinsloo, chief executive officer (CEO) of Bloem Show, said 14 manufacturers, from the largest commercial to the smaller “artisan” private manufacturers in the country, participated in the competition.

According to Prinsloo, the event will continue to present opportunities for entertainment and the exploration of business to patrons attending, given the calibre of performing artists and exhibitors in the industry.

“This year we have built on the focus of variety and quality. The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is making its return. The exhibition halls will host a variety of exhibitors in home decor, outdoor activities, clothing, accessories, the public sector, technology, health, as well as more than 60 food stalls that cater for all tastes and preferences,” said Prinsloo.

She said agriculture remained the core of the show, with a record 5 800 livestock – which includes horses, sheep and cattle – confirmed for exhibition. This will be completed by exhibitors of the government departments, which include the police.

On the entertainment programme, more than 20 performing artists are billed to perform. Two female DJs headline the male-dominated DJ lineup. The pair are the Bloemfontein-born queen of clubs DJ Tshegu (real name Tshegofatso Petlhu) and DJ Lavida.

The other featured disc spinners include: DJ Sean John, DJ Kaytee, DJ JiggyIV, Midnyt, DJ Finzo, Shaxe Khumalo, De Mthuda and Sam Deep.

Billed singers to excite this year’s audience members are Die Piesangskille, Early B, Barto, Brendan Peyper, Jan Rhaap, Dr Victor and The Rasta Rebels, Demi Lee Moore, Riaan Benade, Appel, Lollos, Droomsindroom, Rooksein, Juan Boucher, Bondo and Noxy Band.

If patrons purchase their tickets before 17:00 on 24 April, they qualify for a special discount.
