Long-distance runner Arthur Jantjies of the Kgosi Galeshewe Athletics Club in Kimberley has claimed yet another first place.
Jantjies, from Hopetown, is the winner of the 54th Diamond Marathon, presented by the Kimberley Harriers Running Club on 2 March.
Jantjies completed the Diamond Marathon in 2:27:23, which was faster than his 2:32:17 when he won the Vodacom Meerkat Marathon on 3 February.
The weekend after that, on 10 February, Jantjies won the Kloppers Marathon in Bloemfontein in 2:33:28.
On 9 December 2023 Jantjies was the first to cross the finishing line during the Magersfontein Trail Run when he completed the 25 km race in 1:28:14.
Anel Viljoen of the Kimberley Harriers Running Club, who is the women’s winner of the 42,2 km, also claimed another first place for winning the Diamond Marathon in 3:36:58.
In February she was the women’s category winner during the Meerkat Marathon, which she completed in 3:36:51.
